The 60-seater !Khwa ttu restaurant is located in the splendidly restored original farmhouse on top of one of the numerous hills marking the landscape. Adjacent to the restaurant lies a tea garden with a view that extends up and far over the Atlantic Ocean. The tea garden and restaurant are open from 9h00 to 17h00 on Tuesdays to Sundays. The restaurant also opens its doors for special functions in the evenings.
An effective team consisting of a professional Swiss chef and San trainees run the kitchen and restaurant. The menu offers light, hearty and creative dishes, which are spiced up with freshly picked herbs from the !Khwa ttu garden. The team focuses on fresh products, which manifest themselves in permanently available home-made bread and cakes, imaginative deserts and astonishing main courses. At the weekends the team prepares specially arranged three-course menus, which either can be ordered as a whole for only Rand 95 or single courses can be chosen. Meals can be complemented with both a variety of well-flavoured wines from the famous vineyards of the Darling area and a refreshing soft drink creation of the day.
The menu of the !Khwa ttu restaurant, which provides dishes for every taste can be viewed at the website: www.khwattu.org/tourist_restaurant.asp

Bistro Seven |

“This neat little bistro, housed in a lovely old cottage, is right on Darling’s main street. There are tables and chairs in the small garden to take advantage of the passing parade. Inside, tables are laid with crisp, blue checked cloths and there is a cosy bar for a pre-dinner aperitif or for lingering afterwards. Cuisine is country comfort with great soups, steaks, crisp fresh salads, and the occasional nod to boerekos. Small but good wine list.” - EAT OUT Magazine 2007 |

During a 9 month road trip through Africa, owners Kevin and Philippa stumbled across the idea of micro breweries and instantly knew that Darling would be the perfect home for one. The initial ideas they came home with in May 2008 have grown in leaps and bounds and finally in March 2010 Darling Brew was born. The project has already developed to such a degree that various processes are having to be outsourced in order to meet demands but Darling will always be its home.
The Darling Brew design was inspired by the geometric tortoise, which is found only in the Western Cape and the Kalahari and is extremely rare. This tortoise captures the uniqueness and the unhurried character that is Darling Brew.
The beer is crisp and light (4% alcohol), with roasted aromas, is natural (preservative free) and has a 4 and a half week brewing time. Currently the brewery is focusing on supplying draught and bottled beers to restaurants in Darling and the West Coast Region. The response to our SLOW BEER has been quite overwhelming, but don't take our word for it, get to Darling and try it!

Darling Olives on the Darling Yzerfontein Road |
|
|
|
Darling Olives is located just 3 km out of Darling towards Yzerfontein, nestled amidst vineyards, grazing cattle and olive groves.
Our 70 hectares of olives are all dry land and grown on the Alexanderfontein Estate. They get processed within 24 hours of picking, resulting in a superior product.
Farm bread is baked daily in a wood burned oven. Enjoy a picnic on the farm amongst wild flowers with our bread, olive jams, olive marmalade, Labneh cheese, olives and olive paste in the springtime. For desert you can sample our olive chocolate! During the winter months we always have fire burning in our tasting rooms to shake off the cold while enjoying an informative tasting.
Harvest time is April to June when you can experience the olive oil process with a guided tour through our olive press.
Experience a traditional approach to olives on a working farm where cattle are still herded by horse and a flock of sheep might cross your path. Darling Olives is a great place to start your education about how olives are grown, pressed and cured.

Over flower-covered hills and red dirt roads surrounding Darling lies Kraalbosdam. This historic farm, in existence since 1832, has been restored to its original glory by the creative couple Barry & Anet Burger.
The old “waenhuis” has been transformed into the KRAALBOSDAM RESTAURANT & VENUE which can comfortably accommodate 150 guests. The old stables has been converted into a little church complete with a “traporrel”, candles and stained glass windows that give a unique old worldly setting.
We specialise in presenting a complete package for weddings: from flowers to décor to delicious country cuisine and of course the finest wines. We also strive to accommodate any function or business conference and will tend to your every need.
During flower season it is a delight to wander into the Klipberg mountain to admire the wide variety of flowers and fynbos unique to the farm. The historic Hildebrandt Monument, which is where the most Southern Anglo Boer War battle took place in South Africa, is also situated on the farm.
We look forward to meeting you and you are more than welcome to contact us or come out and visit us to have a Kraalbosdam experience.

The Marmalade Cat is the perfect place for a bustling atmosphere, freshly prepared, flavour-filled breakfasts, lunches, morning and afternoon teas. Vyge Valley Farm Stall |

|
|
Vyge Valley Farm Stall is situated opposite Jakkalsfontein on the R27 West Coast road. With inspirational drive from the new owners, this hidden jewel has blossomed over the past year into much more than just a farmstall.
The saying goes: "First impressions count" and Vyge Valley definitely makes a lasting impression. It begins with the smell of home baked farm bread that greets you as you step from your car. If you follow your nose you’ll also discover rows of freshly baked milktarts inside the shop which is filled with a variety of homemade jams, sauces and preserves as well as artwork by West Coast artists, to name a just few items.
There is a restaurant with a menu filled with choices for every conceivable taste sensation that you may have in mind, but the farmstyle breakfast which will make you long for your grandma is by far the most popular choice. Children are entertained with a playpark and a farmyard of goats, piglets, rabbits, ducks, chickens and much more.
Another of the new developments is a nursery where you will find a variety of trees, plants, pebbles and pots at giveaway West Coast prices. The farm garage is an attraction on it’s own. Several advertising agencies have already taken breathtaking shots of the garage for use in their advertising campaigns.
A farmstall in the West coast would not be complete without a wineshop. The Vyge Valley wine shop is more along the lines of a wine boutique with shelves full of choices from the region’s best cellars. There are wines from Groote Post, Swartland, Cloof, Darling, Riebeek Cellars and Org de Rac amongst others - all at surprisingly affordable prices.
The farmstall opens at 8h00 in the morning and closes at 18h00 in the evening. Our popular breakfast is available throughout the day, so come anytime. The restaurant is fuilly licensed for those who may be thirsty. Group bookings are more than welcome.
